Visitation 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Celebration of Life 11:00 AM Pauley Jones Funeral Home - Harlan 1304 Ninth Street Harlan, IA 51537 Obituary for Ronald Eugene Plumb Ronald Eugene Plumb was born on December 7, 1933 in Omaha, Nebraska and was the adopted son of Lyle Edward and Lillie Plagman Plumb. His younger years were spent on the family farm near Harlan, Iowa. Ron attended the first six years of his education at Lincoln #7, a one-room rural school with no electricity or indoor plumbing. He attended Harlan Junior and Senior High Schools, graduating with the class of 1951 and attended one semester at Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa. Ron spent three years of active duty in the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Illusive MSO-448 as a Sonarman 3rd Class. After his honorable discharge, he spent three semesters at the University of Iowa. Ron worked for Retail Credit Company (now Equifax) for twenty-one years. During that time, he worked and lived in Omaha, Lincoln, Georgia, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, and Kansas. He also worked in real estate as a sales manager and in sales for Network Knowledge before retiring in 2000. While living in Connecticut, Ron served on the Board of the Hartford Jaycees, and as President of the Lions Club. Ron enjoyed working in his yard, golf and reading. He had a passion for animals, especially his dogs. Ron married Twyla Lee Savereide in Harlan on March 11, 1961 and the couple was blessed with one daughter, Peri Anne, on January 1, 1962. Ron passed away on January 20, 2017 in Olathe, Kansas having attained the age of eighty-three years, one month and thirteen days. He is survived by his wife Twyla Savereide Plumb of Olathe; daughter Peri Anne and her husband Dennis Marquardt of Overland Park, Kansas; three grandchildren Amy John of Overland Park, Kathleen Hoover of Lawrence, Kansas, and Christopher John, of Overland Park. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Pauley Jones Funeral Home, 1304 9th Street, Harlan, on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be directed to Operation Wildlife, 23375 Guthrie Road, Linwood, Kansas 66052 in Ron's memory. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
