Following cremation at the Pursel Davis Funeral Home and Crematory, graveside memorial services will he held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Prairie View Cemetery in Gilman. Ronald was born on April 3, 1928 in Gilman, the son of Alton Hubert and Cora Brown Hobbs. He grew up in the Dunbar area. Following his graduation in 1945, he joined the Navy and served on the USS Hancock. Upon his return he was united in marriage with Mary Lou Burnett on September 18, 1949 at the United Bretheren Church in Marshalltown. The couple farmed in rural Gilman until 1977 when they moved to the city of Gilman. He was also employed at Dunham Bush, Swift's and Fisher Control from 1969 until his retirement in 1992. Ron was a member of the American Legion, Gilman Community Church, and served on the Gilman City Council. He enjoyed history, travel, and loved his family. Ronald H. Hobbs is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Hobbs, of Gilman; two sons, Max L. I Hobbs of Gilman and Tim D. (Peggy) Hobbs, of Gilman; a r granddaughter, Angela (Scott Griffin) Hobbs, of Ankeny.; a grandson Joshua Hobbs of ; Marshalltown; a brother, . George (Joyce) Hobbs, of Gardner, Maine; and a sister, Esther (Rex) Gross, of Fharr, Texas.
