Jerry Brown, senior pastor of the Newton First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Judy; two sons and a daughterinlaw, Todd and Zoe of Newton and Phil of West Des Moines; three daughters, Joni (Mrs. Keith) Dean of Raleigh, N.C., Jill (Mrs. Tom) Eaton of Marshalltown and Jana (Mrs. David) Clevenger of Pointe Pleasant, N.J.; and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are his mother, Edith Bishop of Newton, a sister, Mary Ann (Mrs. Barron) Jones of Newton, a nephew, Scott Jones of Centerville and a niece Jan Wade of Newton. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Bishop was a member of the Newton First United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge and Newton American Legion Post 111. An Eagle Scout, he was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War. An industrial engineer at the Maytag Co., he later became owner/operator of Campers and Marine Unlimited.
