Mathison age 78 of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away at Dougherty Hospice after a brief battle with lung cancer. Ronald Lee Mathison son of Russell and Helen (Joneson) Mathison was born June 30, 1943 in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up in Valley Springs, SD and graduated from Valley Springs High School in 1961. Ron then attended and received his bachelor degree form General Beadle College in Madison, SD. He then attended South Dakota State University where he received his Master's degree. Ron was united in marriage to Diane Roesner on March 29, 1969 at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Ron then began a career with Sunshine Foods as the personal director. After several years he left Sunshine and began working with Dakon Implement Company for a period of time. Ron 's next move was joining Rogers Benefit Group as an insurance broker, which he did for many years. He returned to Sunshine Foods before retiring in 1996. He was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church, an avid hunter and trap shooter, a member of Isaac Walton League, and enjoyed his time at the family lake cabin at Lake Hendricks, MN. He was a member of the Masonic Trinity Lodge, The El Raid Shrine, the Shrine Oriental Band and Steel Drum Unit and he was very active in the El Riad Circus for many years. Ron loved to have fun, tell jokes and enjoyed his grandchildren immensely. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Diane, Sioux Falls, SD; his children, Paige (Jeoff) Will, Chanhassen, MN and Luke (Katy) Mathison, Fishers, IN; his grandchildren, Parker, Delaney and Grayson Will, Braxton and Ella Mathison; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Helen; and his brother Jim. The family greeted friends from with a Masonic service at the El Riad Shrine. Funeral Service was held at First Lutheran Church, with a time of fellowship and refreshments before a family committal service.
