He was born Feb. 26, 1962, in Valley City ND to Donald and Donna (Anderson) Hammersmith. He was baptized at the Dazey Methodist Church and confirmed at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City. He was born Feb. 26, 1962, in Valley City ND to Donald and Donna (Anderson) Hammersmith. He was baptized at the Dazey Methodist Church and confirmed at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City. Ron received his 12 years of education in the Valley City School System. At the time of his death, Ron was employed at the Marriot Hotel in Moorhead MN, where he loved the community of people he worked with. Ron enjoyed cars, the races, Red River Valley Fair, and baseball games. He also enjoyed watching the Rugby Ice Hawks Junior Gold Hockey Team where his nephew Daniel was a member of the team. One could hear Ron yell above the crowd to cheer on Daniel. Some of the highlights of his younger years were sitting with his dad on the riding lawnmower, eating grandma Amelia's donuts, visiting with his aunts and uncles, and making lifelong memories with his cousins. This was a special time of the year for Ron; he loved Fargo during the summer months. Ron was an avid walker, no matter where he was. Ron is survived by his father Donald Hammersmith of Dazey ND; sister Cherry (Bruce) Gannarelli of Rugby ND; nephews Corey Gannarelli of Fargo ND and Daniel Gannarelli of Rugby; step-grandmother Rose Anderson of Dickinson ND; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; his extended Gannarelli family; his buddy Dennis Nulle of Fargo; and all of his friends at Community Living Services in Fargo. Ron was preceded in death by his mother, who welcomes him home; his special uncle David; aunts Toots and Dee; cousins Clay and David; and his grandparents Arnold and Amelia Hammersmith, and Don and Dorothy Anderson.
