Read More	Ronald Marion "Ronnie" Brown, passed peacefully at home, Sunday, September 20, 2015, surrounded by his family. Born in Tryon, NC, he was the husband of 24 years to Leslie (Neff) Brown and the son of the late J. M. and Sarah (Flynn) Brown. A graduate of Landrum High School, he attended Spartanburg Junior College and was a former banker and businessman. Many will remember Ronnie as the branch manager of C&S National Bank and American Federal Bank. His fondest memories were of serving the people of Cherokee County when banking was fun. He was elected and served as a commissioner on the Gaffney Board of Public Works and was proud of his part in bringing "The Peach Water Tank" to Gaffney. Ronnie and 40 year friend and business partner, Joe Robison, were instrumental in the renovation and revitalization of downtown Gaffney over the last 30 years through their partnership the B&R Company. They restored many buildings downtown and their efforts were recognized by the South Carolina Downtown Development Association as they were awarded the "Friends of Downtown Development" in 1991. They also owned and operated Gaffney Carpet Cleaning & Dyeing. Ronnie's love for people and service was a huge part of his life. Over the years he participated in many civic groups and activities. He was a charter member of the Cherokee Sertoma Club. He was Sertoma "Man of the Year" in 1972. Ronnie was a Mason at Gaffney Masonic Lodge 186 and a Shriner. He also served on the American Red Cross Board and the Cherokee County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation were he served on the vestry and had been active in church life. Ronnie especially enjoyed his home, yard, and pets, playing on his tractor, and cooking for family and friends. He dearly loved the Big Brown family, and his lunch bunch friends from Landrum High School. There was never a dull moment around Ronnie. He is best remembered for his generous heart, beautiful smile and spirited personality. In addition to his wife, Ronnie is survived by two sons, Richard A. Brown and wife, Jodi, of Connelly Springs, NC, Garrison H. Brown and wife Julie, of Spartanburg, SC; five sisters, Kathy Brown Benshoff and husband David of Inman, June Brown of Spartanburg, Faye Revels and husband Alan of Taylors, Jo Ann Nelson of Spartanburg, Ellen Jones and husband Francis of Landrum, and four grandchildren. The family would like to extend special thanks to our dear caregiver Jackie and to Compassus Hospice. The family received friends 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services were held at 3:00 PM on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation with Rev. Jenny Gettys officiating. Interred at Oakland Cemetery, Gaffney, SC, Lot G-40, on September 7, 2021. In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 308 College Drive, Gaffney, SC 29340 or Cherokee County Humane Society, P.O.
