Ron was born March 26, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Ronald J. and Jessie (Bice) Bruce. He graduated from the Strahan, Iowa, High School in 1945 and enlisted in the Army Air Force serving during World War II. He was a mechanic on the P51 Mustang fighter plane. Read More	Ronald Maurice Bruce, age 93, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society. Ron was born March 26, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Ronald J. and Jessie (Bice) Bruce. He graduated from the Strahan, Iowa, High School in 1945 and enlisted in the Army Air Force serving during World War II. He was a mechanic on the P51 Mustang fighter plane. After his service he started a career in truck driving. He worked for many different trucking companies over a span of 52 years. He lived in Billings, Montana for many years. He was married to Lorna Schulberg in 1957 in Scribner, Nebraska. She passed away in 1958. He later married Irene Lehr. After her death in 1999, Ronald moved to Red Oak, Iowa, to be near his sister, Odette. Preceding him in death were his parents and both wives. Survivors include his nieces: Beverly Telschow of Red Oak and Sandy Johnson and husband Dale of Villisca, Iowa; nephew: Paul Laverty, Jr. and wife Kelley of Perry, Iowa; many great nieces and great nephews and other relatives and friends. A private family funeral will be held at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Sidney, Iowa Cemetery. There will be a time of open viewing from Noon until 7 PM on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Society or the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, we will be following CDC guidelines and the emergency proclamation from our Governor in allowing only 10 people in our facility at any one time with social distancing. We appreciate your understanding of this situation.
