His funeral service was Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Belle Prairie Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Iroquois. Interment was in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Ronald Norman Dubro was born as the youngest child of Paul and Anna (Lorenz) Dubro on June 27, 1932, on the family farm near Harrold, South Dakota. The family relocated to the Esmond and Iroquois area where Ronald graduated from Iroquois High School. During the Korean Conflict, Ronald was drafted but was unable to serve due to a severe asthma condition. To serve his country, he decided to join the South Dakota Wing, Civil Air Patrol. While he was attending college for accounting, he was recruited by the Boeing Aircraft manufacturing company for an engineer training program. In 1952, he moved to Wichita, Kansas. Ronald met L. D. Carpenter in 1957, through mutual friends at the Lutheran church they both attended. In 1959, the couple married and from this union, they had three children. He was trained as an aeronautical engineer and worked for Boeing on such iconic aircraft as the 737. Boeing relocated the family to St. Louis, Missouri, and then later to Long Island, New York. In 1966, he continued his career with Vought Aerospace (LTV), at Grand Prairie, Texas. At first, the family settled in Arlington, Texas; then, in a way to return to his South Dakotan farming roots, he decided to purchase a farm at Mansfield, Texas in 1969.In the 1980's he worked on LTV's stealth bomber, then was later employed at E Systems. While in Arlington, he was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. After moving, he joined Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Prairie, where he fabricated the bell tower that still stands there. In his younger years, Ronald enjoyed bowling and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and working on his family farm, where he raised Longhorn and Red Angus cattle. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred (James) Erickson, and two brothers, Marion Dubro and Marvin (Charlene) Dubro. He is survived by his wife, L. D. of Mansfield, Texas; three children; one grandson,; one brother, Norman (Mary) Dubro of Delta, Utah; one sister-in-law, Margery Dubro of Huron; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
