Ronald died Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Ronald attended Burns High School now known as Norfolk Catholic High School, graduating with the class of 1963. Fillmer, son of Raymond L. and Kathryn M. (Groene) Fillmer, was born August 17, 1945 at Norfolk, Nebraska. Ronald died Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Ronald attended Burns High School now known as Norfolk Catholic High School, graduating with the class of 1963. After High School he attended Norfolk Junior College, Wayne State College, and graduated from the University of Minnesota, Department of Mortuary Science in 1968. On December 28, 1984, he was married to Mary Jean Armbruster at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Norfolk. During his high school years, Ron was employed by Howser Mortuary. When he returned to Norfolk after college, Ron again went to work for Howser Mortuary, which lead to a partnership and ownership in 1997 of the Howser-Fillmer Mortuary. Ron lived his entire life in Norfolk and dedicated his life to serving the community. Ron was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elk's, Norfolk Country Club, Kiwanis Club, National Funeral Directors Association and Nebraska Funeral Directors Association. He was also involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Survivors are: wife Mary Jean Fillmer of Norfolk; sister, Pat and her husband Dale Walsh of Sioux City, IA; brother, Richard and his wife Cheryl Fillmer, of Newton, Utah; four nieces, and two nephews; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: parents, and one nephew in infancy. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk, NE.
