She was left an orphan at an early age and was cared for by an aunt. She came to Iowa in 1850 and was married to Anthony Shuler Feb. 5, 1864. To this union were born eight children, five of whom are living, three having preceded her to the "better land." The children are: Samuel, Elmer, Elza, Mrs. D. F.
