BOCKWOLDT CAME TO AMERICA IN EARLY SIXTIES DURING PAST NINETEEN YEARS SHE RESIDED IN BOONE PASSES AWAY ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 16 Funeral Services Held Tuesday Afternoon From the Trinity Lutheran Church And Were Largely Attended - Burial Near Mackey Rosa Krug was born November 22, 1843 in Goldlautern, Saxony, Germany. She attended the schools of her native city and remained in the parental home until twenty-two years of age. In 1862 the family emigrated to America, locating in Clinton County, Iowa. There she was united in marriage to Henry Bockwoldt. The family moved, in 1865, to Fayette County, Illinois, remaining there until 1875 when they located on a farm northeast of Boone, in Harrison Township. Nineteen years ago Mrs. Bockwoldt moved to Boone and resided here to the time of her death. Nine children, Henry Bockwoldt, Boone; Frank Bockwoldt, Stanhope; August Bockwoldt, Spokane, Wash.; Ernest Bockwoldt, Seattle, Wash.; Will Bockwoldt, Mrs. Emma Scherping, Martha Bockwoldt, Mrs. Mary Ehmann, Boone; Mrs. Pauline Proescholt, Manilla, Ia.; twenty four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Fred and Ernest Krug; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Becker and Mrs. Auguste Leininger survive to mourn her death. For some months Mrs. Bockwoldt did not enjoy her usual good health, complaining of heart trouble. Complications set in which hastened her end. She passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, aged 75 years, 8 months and 24 days. All her life she was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church and of the Ladies Aid of Trinity Lutheran Church. Brief services for the late Mrs. Rosa Bockwoldt were held at her late residence, 1214 Tama Street, Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. Many friends and neighbors had gathered at Trinity Lutheran, where regular services began at 1:15 p.m. The pastor, Rev. Otto Erbe, based his remarks on John 8:51; "Verily, verily, I say unto you, if a man keep my saying, he shall never see death." Miss Elizabeth Thompson sang, "O Lord, Correct Me," (Handel), Prof. Henry Bergmann at the organ. The following friends and former neighbors at Mackey acted as pallbearers: Martin Kreutner, Henry Krog, Adam Moeller, Fred Blaess, Fred Schmidt, Adam Leininger. Interment was made beside her husband in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery near Mackey. CARD OF THANKS The children of Mrs. Rosa Bockwoldt wish to thank all the kind neighbors and friends for the sympathy extended during the sickness and death of their mother. And for the beautiful floral offerings, especially from the Ladies Aid and Boiler Makers and Helpers.
