Rosalie Elaine Brende, daughter of Peter and Esther (Lyng) Brende, was born June 1, 1922 in Renner, South Dakota, where she grew up and attended school. She was united in marriage to Dale H. Axtell on November 28, 1942 in Luverne, Minnesota. In addition to being a loving homemaker and wife, Rosalie worked at the Holiday Inn for many years. Dale preceded her in death on July 12, 1993. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, and the Baltic Ladies Lunch Group, from which she always had a good joke. Rosalie also enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends at Golden Age Club. For the last several years, she has been a resident of Dow Rummel Village where she participated in many of the concerts, games, and programs offered there. Her wonderful memory and sharp wit stayed intact and surprised all who visited her. Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Dale, Sioux Falls, Paul (Cindy), of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a daughter Elaine of Madison, Wisconsin; two brothers, Spencer, South Sioux City, Nebraska, Russell, Dallas, Texas, six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, a brother Lester, and grandson Peter Axtell, also preceded her in death.
