Rosie was born on June 20, 1938 in Seneca Falls, New York the eighth of ten children born to Sheridan Pearl and Edith Viola (Leeson) TenEyck. Read More	Rosalie Jean "Rosie" (TenEyck) Arehart, 72 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska (formerly of Bertrand, Nebraska), passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Bertrand Nursing Home in Bertrand. Rosie was born on June 20, 1938 in Seneca Falls, New York the eighth of ten children born to Sheridan Pearl and Edith Viola (Leeson) TenEyck. Rosie grew up and attended school in Waterloo and graduated at a later date. On February 9, 1957 she was united in marriage to Gerald Dean Arehart, a military police officer serving with the U.S. Army and to this union were born three daughters: Joanna, Deborah and Glenda. The family moved back to Nebraska and farmed in the Loomis and Bertrand areas. Rosie spent most of her life being a devoted farm wife and mother to her three daughters. Rosie and Dean farmed south of Bertrand on the family farm for 10 years before moving into town to semi-retire. Dean passed away in March 2001. Rosie worked at the Bertrand Café for a number of years serving the local townspeople and travelers that were just passing thru. She also worked for the Bertrand Market. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, yard work, playing cards and board games with family and friends. Rosie took up the hobby of bicycling. She was known as Bertrand's bicycling grandmother. Rosie had a personal interest in the fight to battle lung disease, so she rode her bicycle for four years, raising donations for the American Lung Association. Rosie's bicycling adventures continued when she got involved with the BRAN ride (Bike-Ride-Across-Nebraska). Each year there were different starting points and ending points in the weeklong bicycle trek that could range from 350 to over 500 miles upon finish. Rosie completed seven BRAN rides, six in honor of her six grandchildren, the last one was for herself. Throughout the years and her many roads she traveled, friendships were forged and challenges were endured by this determined bicycling wife, mother, grandmother and lifelong friend. In 2002 Rosie affirmed her baptism at the time her six grandchildren were baptized at Hope Lutheran Church. She shared the importance of having faith with her family as well as her friends. Besides her parents and husband, Dean, Rosie was preceded in death by several nieces and nephews; her in-laws: Glen and Margaret Arehart; one brother: Douglas TenEyck; two sisters: Ione TenEyck, Betty Bennett and her husband, Robert; sisters-in-law: Janet TenEyck, Marie Wissmann; brothers-in-law: Phillip Stover, Paul Carlson, Royie Jauken, Ray Smith, and Ervin Wissmann. Rosie leaves to mourn her passing her daughters: Joanna "Joie" Taylor and her husband, Kyle of Elm Creek, Nebraska, Deborah Schutte and her husband, Tom of Kearney, Nebraska, Glenda Arehart of Lincoln; six grandchildren: Brooke Mills and her husband, Hugh of Iberia, Missouri, Logan Jones of Elm Creek, Jamie Drudik and her husband, Nate of Fredericksburg, Iowa, Jeremiah Paulsen of Roca, Nebraska, Tiffany and Tyler Schutte of Kearney; three great-granddaughters: Samantha and Kayleigh Mills, Gabrielle Griffing and one expected great-grandchild; one brother, Alton TenEyck and his friend, Shirley of Buffalo, New York; six sisters: Lois Roach of Hurricane, West Virginia, Phyliss Nedza and her husband, Stanley of Weedsport, New York, Shirley Dressing and her husband, David of Waterloo, New York, Alta Carlson of Seneca Falls, New York, Juanita Thomas and her husband, Charles of Waterloo, New York, Bonnie TenEyck of Waterloo, New York, Cynthia Anderson and her husband, Jerry of Seneca Falls; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ruth TenEyck of Savanah, New York, Darlene Smith of Lawton, Oklahoma, Donna Jauken of Holdrege, Larry and Kathy Arehart of Lincoln, Nebraska, Linda and Herb Hutcheson of Lincoln, Nebraska Robert and Jana Arehart of Friend, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
