Description	:	Rosaline "Rosie" Mary Katherine Sancho at the age of 76 went to be with the Lord on Saturday May 26th, 2012 after a 3 year battle of breast cancer. She was born September 14, 1935 in Ferndale, CA to Antonio & Mary Machado. She lived in Ferndale until the 1955 flood and then moved to Carlotta to live on a dairy with her parents. Read More	Rosaline "Rosie" Mary Katherine Sancho at the age of 76 went to be with the Lord on Saturday May 26th, 2012 after a 3 year battle of breast cancer. She was born September 14, 1935 in Ferndale, CA to Antonio & Mary Machado. She lived in Ferndale until the 1955 flood and then moved to Carlotta to live on a dairy with her parents. Rosie met her husband Jose in January of 1965, they were engaged within 1 month, and then married just 3 months later on May 8th 1965. They moved to Rio Dell to build their life together of 47 years and she resided there until her final day. Rosie worked at Bertain s Laundry in Scotia, CA for 11 years, and kept working until she was 5 months pregnant with her first born child. She then dedicated the rest of her life to being a full time wife and mother to her 4 children and often cared for other children in Rio Dell. She was actively involved in the local Portuguese community helping at the annual Holy Ghost Festival and belonged to several Portuguese fraternal clubs S.P.R.S.I, P.F.S.A and Luso American . She enjoyed the annual conventions that gave her the opportunity to vacation in different parts of California. She was a devout Catholic, belonging to Catholic Daughters, Altar Society and giving back to the community by working at food banks and volunteering at St. Lukes. She was a very giving, loving person and touched the lives of many. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, camping, playing cards and board games. She also loved baking and bringing her goodies to her children s classrooms. She had a big love for children and that love for children continued to grow when she became a grandmother. She loved her grandkids and was proud to say that she had 9 grandchildren. They all loved their "Vovo" which is an affectionate name for Grandma (Avo) in Portuguese. Rosie is survived by her husband Jose Sancho, children Joey Sancho, Robert Sancho (Johanna), daughter Mary Shannon (Andrew), daughter Christina Gomes (Jorge), Grandchildren Makayla, Truston and Bryce Sancho, Samuel Sancho, Martina and Sianna Shannon, Vanessa, Sabrina and Nelson Gomes. Her brother Tony Machado and his children Theresa, Brenda and Tony, brother-in-law Emidio Sancho (Fatima), and his daughter Marlene, nieces Marilia and Anabel. She is also survived by many cousins. Preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Mary Machado, sister-in-laws Frances Machado and Albertina Sancho. Her aunts and uncles Georgina (John) Cardoza Silva, John (Dorothy), Joe (Betty) and Frank (Martha) Lenardo. John (Evelyn) Machado and several other aunts and uncles in Portugal. She also was preceded in death by many cousins. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Gobles Mortuary 560 12th St. Fortuna, Thursday May 31st 1-5 pm and rosary services Thursday May 31, 2012 at 7 pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 14th & N streets Fortuna. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday June 1, 2012 at 10 am. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fortuna with Deacon Tom Silva celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery in Fortuna. Casket bearers will be Jorge Gomes, Tony Machado Jr, Everett Flores, Gary Lenardo, Jason Hawkins and James Blake. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Humboldt or the American Cancer Society on F St. Eureka. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses that helped mom out in her care and a big thanks to Hospice of Humboldt. Also thanks to all the friends and family for their support and prayers during this difficult time and these last weeks bringing food, flowers and gifts to mom.
