Sampson, 44, of Orma, Calhoun County, died yesterday of a gunshot wound, according to information from Stump Funeral Home of Grantsville. State Police were investigating but could not be reached for a report on the death. However, Victor Hamilton, Calhoun County prosecuting attorney, said the victim's wife, Alice, had been lodged in the county jail at Grantsville. She was reported to have been arraigned before Magistrate Leonard Boggs of Grantsville in connection with her husband's death. The shooting occured outside a roadside general store on W.Va. 16 near the town of Stinson, according to Calhoun County Sheriff James E. Morford. Morford said he understood the weapon was a .32 caliber revolver. Born in Calhoun County on Big Run, the victim was a son of William and Gracie Jackson Sampson. Survivors in addition to his parents include four sisters Mrs. Stella Tanner, Massillon O., Mrs. Mary Sampson and Mrs. Lorene Stanley, both of Bedford, O., Mrs. Lydia Butler, Orma, seven brothers Elmer, Virgil, Robert, and George Sampson all of Orma, Russell and Cecil Sampson, both of Massillon, and Harold Sampson of Bedford, and one son by a previous marriage, William Sampson of Youngstown, O. Rites will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Orma Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Cruikshank officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Stump Funeral Home is in charge of arrangement. Accused of Killing Husband Calhoun Woman Held for Murder Mrs Alice Sampson was being held in jail yesterday at Grantsville following her arrest Thursday on a murder charge in connection with the gunshot death of her husband, Roscoe Sampson, of Chloe, Calhoun County, according to State Police. She waived to the grand jury when arraigned before Magistrate Leonard Boggs, police said. The grand jury convenes the third Monday in October. The shooting occured at a general merchandise store south of Chloe, about 1/2 mile from the Sampson home, authorities said. One source was quoted that one shot from a .32 caliber revolver hit the femeral artery in his leg. It was not stated whether the victim was shot inside or outside the store. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Orma Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Cruikshank officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
