Description	:	Roscoe G. Sampson GILBERT - Roscoe Glover Sampson, 88, was received into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, July 7, 2016. He was born in Calhoun County, West Virginia, on July 20, 1927, to the late William H. and Eva Love Craddock Sampson. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel. Graveside service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 533 Hayride Road, Gilbert, SC 29054 with the Rev. Michael Keech officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Building Fund. Mr. Sampson retired from Overnite Transportation Company, where he was a long distance truck driver. He was a member of Elmore Masonic Lodge 288 (Pelion) and was a veteran of the United States of America Army-Air Corps. He was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for 47 years and enjoyed spending time outdoors and working on cars. He is survived by a son, David R. Sampson of West Virginia; daughters, Alice Gayle Hallman (Steve) and Melba Gunter (Charles) of Leesville, Patricia Umbarger (Mike), Pamela Polatty (Bill) and Robin Corder (Bubba), all of Gilbert, 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife of 64 years, Alice Marie Sampson, four brothers, one sister, two great-granddaughters and one great-great grandson. The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the staff of Palmetto Health Hospice, and a special thank you to his hospice nurse, Mary Gantt.
