Description	:	Miss Rose Ann Gillan was born September 17, 1859, in Antrim County, Ireland, her parents Mathew and Margaret Gillan, being of that sturdy stock of a former day. At the age of four, she came with them to this country and located in Tazwell County, Illinois, in the vicinity of Peoria. February 21, 1883, she was married to W. D. Lewis. Read More	Miss Rose Ann Gillan was born September 17, 1859, in Antrim County, Ireland, her parents Mathew and Margaret Gillan, being of that sturdy stock of a former day. At the age of four, she came with them to this country and located in Tazwell County, Illinois, in the vicinity of Peoria. February 21, 1883, she was married to W. D. Lewis. In the spring of 1890 they came to Nebraska and located in the Cordova vicinity. About fifteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Lewis came to Exeter to spend the evening of their life. Since the departure of her husband, who passed away May 10, 1934, she continued living in her home. Although failing in general health, she surrounded herself with best human care that could be provided. For many years she had been a faithful member of the Methodist Church, first in Beaver Crossing and later in Exeter. She loved the church and upheld it with her presence, prayers and her gifts. In her better years she was active in community affairs and club work. She was pleasant, womanly, motherly and kind. She had many friends. In the days of old fashioned neighborliness she was a frequent caller in the night time to aid the sick. Especially was she an ardent lover of her home and family, interested in the children's attendance at Sunday school. She passed away Thursday night, August 13, 1936, at the age of nearly seventy-seven years. She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Louise Lewis of Fort Bragg, Cal., Mrs. Inez Prentice of Liberty, Ariz., Jack Lewis of Friend and Glen Lewis of Exeter. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. Samuel Beechner. Interment was in the Exeter Cemetery.
