She was born on Sept. 12, 1926, in Paterson, New Jersey, to Antoinette and Russell Costa. She met her future husband, Gene Gibson from Clinton, during World War II in New York City, while he was on shore leave. They were married in May 1945. She was born on Sept. 12, 1926, in Paterson, New Jersey, to Antoinette and Russell Costa. She met her future husband, Gene Gibson from Clinton, during World War II in New York City, while he was on shore leave. They were married in May 1945. After Gene graduated from college, they moved to Moline, where Gene worked at the First National Bank. Rose primarily worked at home, raising their three children. But she also relished her volunteer activities. She served as an officer in the Moline Junior Women's Club and the Moline Public Hospital Auxiliary. After a move to Effingham, Illinois, she continued her volunteer work and headed up the effort to build the first YMCA in Effingham. During the late 1970s, they moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina. They moved back to Moline in the early 1990s when Gene's health began to fail. Gene preceded her in death in 1992. Rose was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Moline. Golf and her memberships in several country clubs were a big part of her life. She actively played until she was 80 years old.
