Description	:	Rose Laintz, 83, Mandan, died Jan. 1, 2008, at Medcenter One Care Center, Mandan. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. CST Saturday, Jan. 5, at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Selfridge, with the Rev. William Cosgrove as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Philomena Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. CST Friday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a parish rosary at 7 p.m. CST. Visitation continues one hour prior to services at the church Saturday. Rose was born May 16, 1924, in Selfridge, the daughter of John R. and Augusta (Schneider) Kraft. Rose and Daniel Laintz were united in marriage Oct. 17, 1944. Her strong Christian faith was evident in her lifestyle. Rose was active in her church and Christian Mothers of Selfridge. Rose was a school teacher before her marriage and taught at rural schools in the Selfridge area. After marrying, she and her husband farmed north of Selfridge, where her pride was her large vegetable garden. She would keep the garden in immaculate condition by getting on her hands and knees and going after the weeds with a butter knife. She enjoyed fishing. A high point for her was when she was in Alaska and caught salmon and halibut and was so proud of the fact that she was the only one in that group with success. Known for her talents in cooking large meals, her hospitality would let no one go hungry. After her husband, Daniel, died, she continued to live on the farm until 2001, when she moved to Edgewood Vista, in Bismarck. She later moved to Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center and finally to Medcenter One Care Center, Mandan. She was an avid card player and especially enjoyed a good game with friends formerly from Selfridge. Left with many fond memories and an example of a life well-lived are four daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen (Don) Hauck, McLaughlin, S.D., Geneva Green, Arvada, Colo., Vera Laintz, Novato, Calif., and Laurie (Matt) Walker, Gillette, Wyo.; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Daniel Jr. (Patricia), Pueblo West, Colo., Will (Roberta), Leesville, S.C., and Jayne Laintz, Bismarck; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Helen (Fred) Lowe, Tacoma, Wash.; and two brothers and five sisters-in-law, John (Gloria) Kraft, Sheridan, Wyo., Joe (Jean) Kraft and Elizabeth Kraft, all of Tacoma, Wash., Gertrude Kraft, Bismarck, and Anna Marie Kraft, New Salem. Rose was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one son, Jerome; two infant sons, Joe and John; and five brothers and one sister-in-law, Tom, Sylvester (Frances), Ray, Jim and Mike Kraft.
