LEAMAN VICTIM OF TRAGIC ACCIDENT AT HOME THURSDAY Death Occurs on the Farm Which Was Birthplace- Buried Sunday Mrs. Marshall Leaman, 52 years old, died late Thursday night as a result of a fractured skull received when her dress caught in a belt on a gasoline engine used to run a washing machine. She was thrown into the side of the engine and then to a concrete platform. The accident occurred on the Leaman farm northwest of here about noon Thursday as Mrs. Leaman was finishing the day's washing. The power was dying down and Mrs. Leaman bent down to shut off the engine to find out what was wrong with it. As she leaned over, her dress caught in a belt running from the engine to the washing machine and she was thrown against the side of the engine. Mrs. Leaman was removed to the home and a physician called. She remained in a semiconscious condition until her death Thursday night. She leaves her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Herbert Faust and two grandchildren. All reside on the Leaman farm where Mrs. Leaman was born. Funeral services were held Sunday at the United Brethren Church, known as Murphy, near here. Rev. D. I. Hammond, pastor of the church officiated and burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church. ------------------------------ A similar article in the Oelwein Daily Register said she was 53.
