Description	:	Rose Pfeifle, a longtime resident of Mobridge, worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Mobridge for a number of years and also at the MoRest and Mark Motels. In failing health, Rose became a resident of the Helping Hand Assisted Living Center in Brandon. She died at the center on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the age of 91. Rose was born Dec. 3, 1916, to Gottlieb and Katherine (Geiser) Kautz on their farm near Artas, where she grew up and attended school in the area. On Oct. 10, 1937, she married Albert Pfeifle in the Artas Baptist Church. They lived and farmed in the Artas, Java and Ipswich area until 1959 when they moved to Mobridge. In 1994 Rose moved to Brandon to be near her son Lyle. In the fall of 2002 she moved into the Helping Hand Assisted Living Center. While in Mobridge she was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Ladies Circle of the church. Surviving Rose are two sons, Lyle (Bev) Pfeifle of Brandon and Kenneth (Venita) Pfeifle of Greeley, Colo.; one brother, Leo Kautz of Minnesota; two sisters, Violet Bauer of Herreid and Edna Doss of Green Valley, Ariz.; six grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; three step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. Her husband Albert in 1993, and two brothers, Art and Eugene Kautz, preceded Rose in death. Funeral services for Rose were held Thursday, June 12, at First Baptist Church in Mobridge with the Rev. Gary Street officiating. Casketbearers were Shayne (Darlys) Pfeifle, Jayde (Stephanie) Pfeifle and Nichole (Josey) Aasheim. All the grandchildren and great grandchildren were honorary bearers. Burial was in the Mound City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Mobridge Tribune June 18, 2008
