Another son died in infancy and Edward, the eldest, died of influenza at Camp Dodge in World war I. Mrs. Zimmerman was a Gold Star Mother. Rose Machart was born March 3,1876, daughter of Lawrence and Katherine Machart who lived north of Anamosa. She was married to William Zimmerman in Anamosa in 1896. She and Mr. Zimmerman farmed in Castle Grove township for a time and then farmed near Prairieburg until they moved to the home place southwest of Anamosa. She moved to Anamosa following Mr. Zimmerman's death in February,1940. In addition to her three sons, she is survived by a brother, Frank Machart, Prairieburg; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Kula, Orland,Calif.; Mrs. Kate Flanagan, Manchester, and Mrs. John Holub, near Coggon; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Kula is flying here for the service. Casket-bearers will be deacons of St. Paul's Lutheran church: Ray Larson, Albert Hughes, Carl Mardorf, Ed Harms, Tom Harderson, William Oltmans.
