Description	:	Rose Marie (Courtney) Andrews was born December 14, 1927, at Ellston, Iowa to Charles and Maggie (Butler) Courtney. Rose graduated from Ellston high school in 1947 and furthering her education, she graduated from Simpson College in 1948. Rose taught school in Benton, Iowa from 1948 to 1951. On September 9, 1950, she married Robert Lee Andrews in the Methodist Church at Tingley, Iowa. They lived for 18 months in Alaska where Bob was stationed. Read More	Rose Marie (Courtney) Andrews was born December 14, 1927, at Ellston, Iowa to Charles and Maggie (Butler) Courtney. Rose graduated from Ellston high school in 1947 and furthering her education, she graduated from Simpson College in 1948. Rose taught school in Benton, Iowa from 1948 to 1951. On September 9, 1950, she married Robert Lee Andrews in the Methodist Church at Tingley, Iowa. They lived for 18 months in Alaska where Bob was stationed. They returned to Iowa and started farming north of Mount Ayr and then to the Redding area from 1950 to 1972. In 1972 they moved to their present farm. In addition to being a farm wife, Rose worked 21 years at the Ringgold County Hospital as a certified nurse aid. Rose enjoyed belonging to clubs. She was a member of the United Baptist-Presbyterian Church, New & Few Club, Crafty Souls, Redding Thimble Club and many other clubs, not mentioned. She was a former 4-H leader, taught Sunday school and was a member of the Rebekkah Lodge for 50 years. Rose passed away on February 28, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clarence Courtney and his wife Jean and their daughter Cathy Courtney and Harold Courtney and his daughter Kelli Sue Layton. Survivors include her husband Bob of Diagonal; two sons, Rick and wife Vickie of Lawrence, Kansas and Randy and wife Becky of Benton; on daughter Karen Andrews of Alpharetta, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Tara and Shane Brown of Gardner, Kansas, Gustin and Cynthia Andrews of Eudora, Kansas, Jotham Andrews of Lawrence, Kansas, Michael Murray of Alpharetta, Georgia, Charles Andrews of Benton, Cody Murray Alpharetta, Courtney Murray of Alpharetta and Nora Andrews of Benton; a foster grandson Val Misner of Lawrence; four great-grandchildren, Asher and Wrenner Brown of Gardner and Hagan and Holden Andrews of Eudora; four sisters, Flora Courtney of Mount Ayr, Mary Munson of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Alice Elliott and husband Chuck of Des Moines, Iowa and Maxine Fry and husband Dwight of Indianola, Iowa; a sister-in-law Norma Courtney of Leon, Iowa; and nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2004 at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Reverend Peter Brantner officiating. Musicians are Nancy Sackett and Chris Kinney. Casket bearers are Bill Kinney, Tim Saville, Syd Comer, Kevin Jackson, Wallace Sobotka and Wendell Wallace. Honorary pallbearers are Gerald Willey, Jim Neas, John Rychnovsky, Dean Frost and Dick Baker. Rose was laid to rest in the Benton Cemetery, Benton. Mount Ayr Record-News, 4 Mar 2004
