A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church in Watertown with Father Michael Wensing officiating, organist will be Danielle Holmquist-Holida and music by Immaculate Conception Funeral Choir. Rose Mary Althoff was born July 8, 1935 on a farm in Pelican Township, Codington County to Timothy "Leo" and Malinda (Steuck) McMahon. Rose grew up on several different farms, attending country schools for her education, beginning in Henry, as well as Fedora and Summit. Rose married Virgil Althoff in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1951. Rose was a stay at home mom until all her kids were in school. Rose was employed at the Waverly High School as a dishwasher for three years. Rose's next employment was at Jenkins Living Center working as a nurses aid for 28 years. Rose retired in 2000 from Jenkins. Rose's retirement from Jenkins left her time to enjoy visiting friends and relatives. Family activities were special to her, especially participating in her grandkids activities and functions. Rose was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a Catholic Daughter. Rose was the last member of her family and is preceded in death by her parents and two younger sisters. Rose is survived by four children, Vince, Doug, Marilyn and Darwin; 8 grandchildren and three great granddaughters.
