Description	:	Rose Mary Wedeking Peters was born to William and Minnie Mundt Wedeking, Jan. 11,1899, one mile south of Nemaha. She was the seventh of eight children and spent her childhood growing up on the farm. She later moved to Nemaha with her parents. Rose attended school in Nemaha and was in the first class to graduate from the school in 1917. Following her graduation she attended Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines, returning to Nemaha to work in the local bank for three years and then at the bank in Lohrville for one year. Read More	Rose Mary Wedeking Peters was born to William and Minnie Mundt Wedeking, Jan. 11,1899, one mile south of Nemaha. She was the seventh of eight children and spent her childhood growing up on the farm. She later moved to Nemaha with her parents. Rose attended school in Nemaha and was in the first class to graduate from the school in 1917. Following her graduation she attended Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines, returning to Nemaha to work in the local bank for three years and then at the bank in Lohrville for one year. Following this, she obtained a teaching certificate and taught at Kier Country School near Sac City for one year. She returned to college at Buena Vista and recieved her Bachelor of Science degree in 1929 after which she taught high school English in Nemaha. Later she served as the Nemaha postmaster for 17 years. She married Marvin L. Peters on Aug. 31, 1952, at the Nemaha United Methodist Church and they lived a happy life in Nemaha until his death in August 1991. Rose was a loyal member of the Nemaha United Methodist Church for 78 years, joining in 1915. During that time she played the piano and later the organ for over 25 years as well as teaching an adult Sunday School class. She sang and played for numerous funerals and weddings when she was younger. She was a long-time member of the Nemaha United Methodist Women, Grandmother's Club, and a former Eastem Star member. She served as church historian for a number of years and she also compiled a history of Nemaha. Rose was an avid flower gardener, and in years past she enjoyed crocheting and china painting. Her relatives of many generations were always remembered with birthday greetings from her. In July of 1992, after suffering a stroke, she became a resident of Park View Care Center in Sac City where she received loving care. Rose died April, 23, 1993. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; her parents; sisters, Minnie, Christina, and an infant sister and brothers, August, William and Herman. (Storm Lake Times, 4-27-1993)
