Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday July 18, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City with Fr. Kenneth Wehrs as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 to 6 PM with a 6 PM rosary all at the church. Visitation will resume Monday 1 hour prior to the Mass at church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online tributes may be left at www.chermokfuneralhome.com. Rose was born on November 23, 1923 on the family farm between Garland and Bee to Joseph and Theresa (Vogeltanz) Hain. She graduated from Dwight Assumption High School. She married Anton Samek on April 22, 1947 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Bee. Eight children were born to this union. Rose was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; Seminarian Club; PCCW;and American Legion Auxilary. Rose was a homemaker; in her later years she was a housekeeper for the ASCS Office, Tomek & Tomek Attorneys as well as the Fiesta Motel. She loved baking kolaches, rolls and cookies. She never let you go home without taking a plate of something with you even if she had to pull it out of the freezer. She enjoyed taking her handiwork, baking and flowers to the county fair where she was always proud of the purple ribbons she received. She enjoyed going to the VFW and Seminarian Club meetings. Rose is survived by her children; Carole Essink of Grand Island; Jan (Dick) Schmid of David City; Mary (Randy) Schultz of David City; Judy (Mark) Moravec of Grand Island; Susan (Kevin) Gustafson of Seward; Tom (Jane) Samek of David City; Bob (Dee) Samek of David City and Steve (Monica) Samek of Omaha;one sister Marie Jirovsky of Seward; brothers in law Fred Samek and John Rerucha of David City; and sisters in law Delores and Marie Hain; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren with another on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Tony (April 4, 2010); son in law Jim Essink; and brothers Joseph, Jerry, Hubert, Emanuel and Cyril Hain.
