Rev. R. P. Boyer officiated at the services. Caryl Carstensen of Oakdale was the solosit and was accompanied by Miss Barbara Wingate. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery at Long Pine,. Mr. and Mrs. Wingate and Barbara and Mr. and Mrs. Holmes accompanied the remains to Long Pine. Rose Thralls was born August 2, 1871 at St. Mary's, Indiana While she was yet young her mother died and she lived in an orpanhage for a time until her father remarried. When she was a young woman she "proved-up" on a Homestead and claimed some land from the government. She was married to U. S. Holmes on October 21, 1919 at Berryville, Missouri. They lived on small farms in Missouri and Illinois before coming to Oakdale, Nebraska in November, 1945. Mr. Holmes passed away on February 23, 1951. Since that time Rose had made her home at the Plantation Manor at Elgin, Nebraska. She suffered a broken hip in 1955 but recovered from it and was again able to walk. She had been ailing since July and passed away Saturday, November 8, 1968 at the age of 87 years 3 months and 6 days. She leaves to mourn her passing, a half-sister, Rilla Morton of Idaho, a step-brother, R. B. Centers of Easton, Minnesota; six step-children, and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
