She graduated from Elgin High School and The University of Northern Iowa and taught school in New Albin, Iowa before marrying Raymond "Butch" Hudachek in August of 1951. After marriage, they settled near Lone Tree on the farm they would raise their family on and call home for the next 40 years, until Butch's death in 1990.
