Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Monday, August 18, 2014 at Collegiate Presbyterian Church, 159 Sheldon Avenue in Ames, where she was a long-time member and served as an elder, a deacon and a Sunday School teacher for many years. Rosemary was born April 30, 1929 to Christine Klein de Bruyn and William de Bruyn in Sioux Center, Iowa. She graduated from Pella High School and Central College. Rosemary married Robert (Bob) Taylor on June 29, 1963. Rosemary was a loving caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She especially enjoyed time with family and friends, and embodied the spirit of volunteering through her involvement in the community. She served on the Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation Board, and spent many years volunteering her time at her church rummage sale. Rosemary taught at Meeker and Lincoln Elementary Schools in Ames as well as grade schools in Newton, Sioux Center, and Springfield, New Jersey. She especially enjoyed her membership in P.E.O. Chapter IV, having been a member for 50 years. She was also a member of Ames Questers #310 Margaret Stanton. Her friends and family remember her fondly for her kindness and compassion. She found pleasure in traveling, particularly on annual excursions to Sanibel Island and Siesta Key, Florida where time was spent with family and friends, long walks on the beach and watching the sunset. Rosemary is survived by her husband, Bob Taylor of Ames; two children, John Taylor of Des Moines and Jeff (Shelley) Taylor of Ames; two grandchildren Jason and Amy Rose; sister-in-law Mary (George) Carter of Ames; nieces and nephews: Steve (Kathy) Carter of Ames, Lori Carter of California, Kate Carter-Frederick of Des Moines, Todd (Erin) Carter of Washington and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Dr. Gary Kempers; and great nephew, Joseph Frederick.
