Read More	Rosemary Schumacher, age 93, of San Francisco, CA, formerly of Huron died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Alma Via of San Francisco Assisted Living Community. Her memorial service is pending at this time. Rosemary Susan Schuster Schumacher was born on February 19, 1919 to George and Susanna Schuster in Dyersville, Iowa. The fifth born of seven siblings, she was athletic, fun loving, and eager to help out in her family's retail business, Schuster's Hardware. Rosemary was the first of her siblings to marry. On June 10, 1940, she married Charles Matthew Schumacher at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville after he was graduated from Iowa State University. When Charles was hired by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, they settled where his first jobs took them: Cheyenne, OK and Marfa, TX. In 1942, when Charles enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to serve in World War II, Rosemary moved to Washington, DC and worked in the War Department. When Charles returned home in 1945 and resumed his career with the Department of Agriculture, the couple moved back to Texas, then Nebraska, then Kansas, and then Nebraska again where, to everyone's surprise, they adopted a baby boy in 1960, after twenty years of marriage. In 1964, the threesome settled in Huron where Rosemary focused on her husband and son. Always a fan of the arts, she encouraged her son to pursue every artistic and intellectual endeavor in Huron and beyond. Her catholic faith was central to her life and, for many years, she volunteered at the Church Of The Resurrection, now Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, on the decoration committee. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Weight Watchers where she kept everyone entertained. After Charles passed in 2005, she moved to San Francisco to live with her son. And for the past several years, she has lived in a wonderfully spiritual assisted living community, AlmaVia of San Francisco, where she has made many new friends who will miss her dearly. Rosemary is survived by her son, Frank Schumacher of San Francisco; her sister Margaret Hornsby of Fort Washington, MD; and her sister-in-law Starla Schuster of Dubuque, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles; her sister, Mildred Cate; her brothers, George Schuster, Walter Schuster, Louis Schuster, Harold Schuster; and an infant son, Charles James Schumacher in 1941.
