She was born August 26, 1942, in Columbus, to Hugo and Martha (Lutjeluesche) Muhle. She grew up in Columbus where she graduated from Columbus High School in 1961. She worked at B&D in Columbus after high school and then she married Eugene "Gene" Haiar, December 29, 1964, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Read More	************************************ Rosie H. Haiar, 71, of Fremont, passed away Sunday January 5, 2014, at her home in Fremont. She was born August 26, 1942, in Columbus, to Hugo and Martha (Lutjeluesche) Muhle. She grew up in Columbus where she graduated from Columbus High School in 1961. She worked at B&D in Columbus after high school and then she married Eugene "Gene" Haiar, December 29, 1964, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. After their wedding the couple moved to Fremont, where she was a homemaker until the children got older. She then worked at the Canteen at Hormel's. She later worked for Midland Lutheran College for 20-plus years, eventually retiring in 2008. Rosie was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. She was a member of the Arborarium Society at Midland University, and she was a breast cancer survivor. Some of her hobbies included reading, bird watching, and watching James Bond movies. She enjoyed having pie and coffee with her friends and she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her grandchildren. She valued education and encouraged all of her children to strive for a higher education. She is survived by sons, Paul and wife, Lynn Haiar, of Las Vegas, Nev., Steve and wife, Belsy Haiar, of Dayton, Ohio; daughters, Nancy and husband, Calvin Schwarz, of Montrose, Colo., Janene and husband, JJ Wohlers, of Grand Island; grandchildren, Steve Haiar, Ryan Haiar, Amber Haiar, all of Phoenix, Ariz., Mark Schwarz, of Montrose, Colo., Noah Wohlers, and Annie Wohlers, both of Grand Island; brothers-in-law, Mark ‘Woody' Woodworth, of Columbus, Donald Borowiak, of Silver Creek, Dick Wagner, of Columbus, Vern and wife, Corrine Haiar, of Humphrey, Richard Haiar, of Columbus, Al and wife, Jean Haiar, of Omaha; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Eugene "Gene" Haiar; step-father, Edward O. Mueller; sisters, Arlene Woodworth, Gladys Borowiak, Connie Wagner; and niece, Tamara (Wagner) Marker. A Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2014, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Fr. Dave Belt will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Shell Creek. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. A vigil/rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to plant a tree at Midland University campus in Rosie's honor.
