Rosie was born May 4, 1922, at the family farm in Mercer County, the daughter of John and Christina (Tesky) Pischel. She was baptized on June 25, 1922, by the Rev. Marcus Bandler and confirmed April 5, 1936, by the Rev. S. Joachim, both at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah. Rosie attended school in Mercer County, completing the seventh grade. On Sept. 28, 1941, Rosie married John Gunsch at Zion Lutheran Church and the two farmed north of Zap from 1941 to 1945. In 1945, they bought a farm 16 miles south of Zap and farmed there until 1971. Rosie and John also owned and operated the R&H Motel in McClusky from 1971 until they retired in 1981 and moved to Beulah. John passed away on Sept. 22, 1986. Rosie continued to reside in Beulah, living at Sunset Manor Apartments from 2002 to 2005 and also at the Knife River Care Center from 2005 until her passing. Rosie was well known for her hard working abilities by family, friends and neighbors. During her single days, she was a maid in several households and helped a number of her sisters after the birth of their children. Rosie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Weslie (Jane) Gunsch, Beulah; three grandchildren, Brad (Camey) Gunsch and DeAnn (Mark) Riegel, all of Beulah, and Brian (Brenda) Gunsch, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; 10 great-grandchildren, Alex, Brandi, Brady and Shaylyn Gunsch and Austin and Cruz Riegel, all of Beulah, and Breanna, Britney and Brandon Gunsch and Melissa Wood, all of Murfreesboro; two step-grandchildren, Samantha and Jacey Duttenhefner, Beulah; one great-great-grandchild, Bryleigh Causley, Murfreesboro; four sisters-in-law, Pauline Pischel and Martha Gunsch, both of Beulah, Joyce Hansen, Bismarck, and Lorraine Pischel, Lone Pine and Bishop, Nev.; and one brother-in-law, Art Boeckel, Beulah. Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, John; one son, Virgil Gunsch; one daughter-in-law, LaRue Gunsch; one infant grandson; one granddaughter, Rhonda Gunsch; five sisters, Emma Wiedrich, Hertha Mittelsteadt, Alvina Mittelsteadt, Pauline Boeckel and Regina Weiss; and three brothers, Albert, William and Harold Pischel.
