ROSA DUNNING DIES - Succumbs at Home of Daughter in Ervin Township After Long Illness. - After an illness of more than a year, and bedfast for ten weeks. Mrs. Rosa Clarissa Dunning age 69 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles McCoy, Ervin township, Monday evening. Mrs. Dunning was the widow of George Dunning killed in an accident thirty-one years ago at the old power plant then situated in East Sycamore street. The body was brought to the Rich establishment this city and will be returned to the late home Tuesday evening. the funeral will be held at the McCoy home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. the Rev. Everett Nixon will conduct the services. the burial will follow in Crown Point cemetery. She is survived by one son, Everett, Indianapolis, and two daughters, Mrs. McCoy, at whose home she died and Mrs. Eva Gathsman, West Palm Beach, Fla. She also leaves four grandchildren, Mrs. Arlene Dunning, Mildred Harlow and Lloyd McCoy. Howard county, and Russell D. McCoy, Dayton, O., and four great-grand-children, Norma, Catherine and David Dunning and Lester Harlow, Jr. Kokomo Tribune: November 17, 1974, p. 4: At a ceremony conducted under the auspices of the Howard County Historical Society, a Confederate flag from the home of Jefferson Davis was presented to a daughter of the South, Miss Mary Troy, a representative of the Jefferson Davis Association of Montgomery, Ala. Mrs. Frances W. Stephens presided. Others laking part in the ceremony were C.V. Haworth, Mrs. D.C. Springer, Willis B. Dye, Dr. J.C. Stone, Dr. J.R. Morgan, Miss Troy and Mrs. Rosa Dunning, who gave the flag to the local society. Kokomo Tribune: August 17, 1915, p. 9: Nearly one hundred members of the Knight family attended the annual reunion held Sunday at the City park and pronounced it one of the best meetings they have ever held. There was the usual big dinner at noon with every thing to eat, made more-enjoyable by the pleasant company there to partake of it. After dinner a business session was held and the following officers were elected; President, Fount Knight of Logansport; Corresponding Secretary; Mrs. Rosa C. Dunning of Kokomo. Letters were read from members unable to attend and a picture of the group was taken. In 1916 the family will again meet at the Kokomo City park on the second Sunday in August.
