Description	:	A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT Last Sunday evening at about nine o'clock a frightful accident happened a short distance out of Bridgeport on the road to Brewster. Where the road goes through a rock cut and then makes a short turn, the car driven by Ross Speed and six other people, was thrown over the bank and was turned over a number of times before landing close to the waters edge of the Columbia river. Where the road goes through a rock cut and then makes a short turn, the car driven by Ross Speed and six other people, was thrown over the bank and was turned over a number of times before landing close to the waters edge of the Columbia river. Ross Speed was instantly killed, his neck being broken. Alfred Andrews who was also in the car was quite severely injured in the back, while Edna Brown, the oldest daughter of Sam Brown was very severely injured having her collar bone broken and otherwise bruised while her sister Laverne was badly cut about the face and head. Miss Boyles and Clifford Carey were the luckiest ones of the lost both of them getting out with but a few minor injuries. It is a great wonder that the entire party were not all killed, car went over the bank on the very worst piece of ground between the two towns. The embankment for a great distance is a mass of large granite rock and the car going end over end until they were all spilled out. The ones who were injured the most are recovering very nicely. From all reports the car was traveling at a very slow rate of speed when the accident occurred, but the road is very narrow at this point and the slightest skid will put the wheels out of the road over the bank.
