She investigated and had learned that the body of a stranger had been found on Slaughter Beach and had been buried. Read More	Sussex News Items, Frederick MD Lewes, Delaware, Monday , 16 August 1916 : Supposing that her husband, a seaman, was on a trip to Philadelphia on business, Mrs Ross Morris, of Lewes, was astonished to learn that he had left there on a steamer for home last Sunday. She investigated and had learned that the body of a stranger had been found on Slaughter Beach and had been buried. When the body was exhumed she was horrified to find it was the corpse of her husband. It is supposed that he fell from the steamer while it was on it way down and immediately drowned in the Delaware Bay.
