Read More	JOHNSON, ROSS HUBERTRoss Hubert Johnson was born to Eric Trancel Johnson and Alma Rose Man Johnson on September 8, 1910, at Bennett township, Fillmore county, and passed away August 12, 1985, at the Fillmore county Hospital at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 4 days. He was one of five children in the family. He attended several rural schools in Fillmore county, including District 1 and District 62 and high school in Grafton. On January 19, 1931, Ross was united in marriage to Evelyn Whitaker. He entered military service on March 27, 1942, and served four years in the Pacific Theatre. After returning home he worked as a welder in Cushmans of Lincoln and later returned to the family home to take over his uncles blacksmith and welding business. On November 5, 1949, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Bures Tesar and started farming and continued until his death. Ross was devoted to his famiy and grandchildren and enjoyed company and visiting with old friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond and Ervin; and one sister, Ila Mae Cowart. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; two sons, Hubert Dale and wife Frances; Lowell Ross and wife Wanda, all of Geneva; one daughter, Linda and husband Louis Schafer Jr. of Tobias; one sister, Elvina and husband, Elwood, of Geneva; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 15, from the Farmer and Son funeral home in Geneva, with Pastor David Ahlman officiating. Louis Schafer Sr., accompanied by Mrs. Norval Lomax sang, How Great Thou Art and Rock of Age. Those serving as pallbearers were Lyle Johnson, Terry Shaw, Robert Swails, Steven D. Carrigan, Kenneth Woodward and Robert Ackland. Interment was in the Geneva public cemetery. The Nebraska Signal August 1985
