Description	:	REYNOLDS - Ross M. Westfall, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center. Born Aug. 18, 1917, in Monticello, he was the son of the late Albert Westfall and Erna Lange Westfall. He attended elementary through junior high school at St. James Lutheran School in Reynolds, and was a 1934 graduate of Reynolds High School. His marriage was to Madelene Meske on May 6,... Read More	REYNOLDS - Ross M. Westfall, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center. Born Aug. 18, 1917, in Monticello, he was the son of the late Albert Westfall and Erna Lange Westfall. He attended elementary through junior high school at St. James Lutheran School in Reynolds, and was a 1934 graduate of Reynolds High School. He earned his degree in physical education from Purdue University in 1939. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1941 to 1946, and achieved the rank of ensign. His marriage was to Madelene Meske on May 6, 1942, in San Diego, and she died July 30, 1991. Mr. Westfall taught and coached at Concordia High School, and Condordia College in Fort Wayne from 1939 to 1941. He taught math and coached at Idaville High School from 1946 to 1950, at Reynolds High School fro 1950 to 1955, and taught at North White High School from 1964 to 1965. He was a farmer from 1950 until his retirement in 1979. He was a life member of St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds, where he held a variety of office throughout the years and taught Sunday school. He was a volunteer fireman for the Honey Creek Township Fire Department for nearly ten years, served as Honey Creek Township Trustee and Assessor from 1958 to 1966; and served several years on the White County Memorial Hospital Foundation and as treasurer for the White County March of Dimes. He was a board ember of the White County REMC from 1968 to 1989, served as a statewide director from 1977 to 1989, and held the state office of secretary, vice president, and resident for REMC. Mr. Westfall was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash from Gov. Evan Bayh in 1989. Surviving are his children, Tom Westfall (wife Beth), Dan Westfall (wife Paula), all of Reynolds, John Westfall (wife Barbara) of Monticello, and Miriam Marti (husband Humberto) of Winston-Salem, NC [remainder of survivors cut-off].
