Morse arrived here Friday evening with the remains of Mrs. Morse, who died at their late home at Bingham Lake, Minnesota. They were accompanied by all of their children, who were present at the death of their mother, except Mrs. C. J. Smersh of Brainard, who was unable to get to see her mother, before her death, on account of the snow blockade, at Sioux City. The remains were taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Smersh, where they were kept until Sunday. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 o’clock p.m., at the M. E. church in David, funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. F. Haas, pastor the church. Interment was in the David City cemetery. Deceased leaves a husband and seven children, to mourn her departure. The children are Messrs Claude and Irving Morse, of Bingham Lake,, Minnesota; and Mesdames Charles Smiley of Garey, Colorado; H. A. Henry, W. J. Harmon and C. J. Rae of Furnas county, Nebraska, and C. J. Smersh of Brainard. Mr. and Mrs. Morse were among the early settlers of this community; where they lived for many years and where their children all grew to manhood and womanhood. The Morse family were among the well known and well respected citizens of this community. About twelve years ago the Morse family moved to Furnas county where they resided on a farm until about three years ago when Mr. and Mrs. Morse moved to Stamford, their children all having grown up and left, establishing homes for themselves. About a year ago, after making a visit to Brainard, Mr. and Mrs. Morse went to Bingham Lake, Minn., where their two sons reside, to make their home. Messrs. Claude and Irving Morse and Mesdames Smiley and Henry departed Monday for their respective homes, and on Tuesday Mesdames Rae and Harmon departed for their homes accompanied by their father, Mr. Morse, who will make his home with his daughters, temporarily at least, in Furnas county. She died at her home in Bingham Lake, Minnesota, at the age of 60 years, 7 months, February 3rd, 1917. When 16 years of age she with her parents moved to Nebraska, where she met and married P. M. Morse and were residents of Butler county, a number of years. Eight children were born to this union, two sons and five daughters, one child died in infancy. The seven children and husband survive. For a great many years she was a member of the M. E. church. She joined that denomination 14 years ago, and was a constant worker in the church. The body was brought to Brainard, and from there to David City, Sunday. The funeral services were held at St. Luke’s, Methodist church Sunday, at 2 P.M. Rev. Haas conducting the services. The singers were, A. L. Hughes, Guy Walling, Ralph Fuller and Mr. Boyd. They sang, “Sun of My Soul,” “The Silver Cord” and “Nearer My God to Thee.” Pallbearers were: T. J. Hinds, J. H. Owen, M. J. Bouse, F. M. Maule, A. E. Etting and C. O. Crosthwaite. The remains were laid to rest in the David City cemetery.
