Roy, son of Charles and Amanda Volbreicht Brockney, was born March 1, 1913 in Mitchell County, Iowa. He was a graduate of Riceville High School. Roy was united in marriage to Annette Van De Weerd on Jan. 9, 1941, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He was a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife, Annette of Riceville; two sons: Duane and his wife, Judy, Brockney of Osage, and Dale and his wife, Margaret, Brockney of Charles City; one daughter, Karen Heskett of Minneapolis, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Genevieve Cary; two brothers, Alvin and Leslie; and one sister, Laura Ferguson.
