Mr. Jolly was born in Union on Nov. 26, 1925, a son of the late Milton Humphries Jolly and Mattie Irene Young Jolly. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and was counselor for the Royal Ambassadors for 19 years. Read More	Roy Chandler Jolly Sr., 76, of 125 Toney Road, husband of Alice Ingle Jolly, died Aptil 28, 2002, at 8:55 a.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mr. Jolly was born in Union on Nov. 26, 1925, a son of the late Milton Humphries Jolly and Mattie Irene Young Jolly. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and was counselor for the Royal Ambassadors for 19 years. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army as a S/Sgt. in the Philippines. He was a member of the Textile Baseball League and was known as Knuckle Ball. Mr. Jolly was retired plant surpervisor for Bloomsburg Mill in Monroe, N.C. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Joann Jolly Mills of Mooresboro, N.C. and Patty Jolly Coleman of Union; two sons, Roy C. Jolly Jr. of Greenville and Terry L. Jolly of of Union; three sisters, Nell J. Crawford and Lillian J. Bentley, both of Union and Margaret J. Gregory of Delray Beach, Fla.' two brothers, Raymond Jolly and C.B. Jolly, both of Union; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Jolly was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hebron Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. David Toney and the Rev. Jerry Ford. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends tonight from 7-9. The family is at the home, 125 Toney Road, Union. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
