He was born on September 4, 1931 in Gamaliel, Kentucky to Bertie and Gertrude (Hale) Copas. On December 24, 1953 Roy married Nora “Dimple“ Strong and she preceded him in death on October 12, 2006. Roy was a member of the Tipton Lion’s Club and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a Baptist Pastor and had served with many churches over the years. He was born on September 4, 1931 in Gamaliel, Kentucky to Bertie and Gertrude (Hale) Copas. On December 24, 1953 Roy married Nora “Dimple“ Strong and she preceded him in death on October 12, 2006. Roy was a member of the Tipton Lion’s Club and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a Baptist Pastor and had served with many churches over the years. Roy loved playing the guitar, he and his band often hosted local fundraisers in the area to help raise money for those in need. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, playing music, bowling and motorcycle riding. Roy owned and operated Copas Janitorial in Tipton for many years. He retired from Citizens National Bank in Tipton after 30 plus years of service. Survivors include his two daughters; Sheila and her husband Gary Hook, Sheril and her husband Mark Coverdale, and a son, Terry and his wife Shannon Copas all of Tipton. Roy is also survived by one sister, Runell Anderson along with 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday June 21, 2016 at Tipton‘s Fairview Cemetery.
