His parents were Ralph and Pearl(Smith)Rousey. He grew up in Hamlet and attended Hamlet schools through the 8th grade. He joine the U.S. Army in 1941 and served inn Germany during WWII. After his discharge in 1945, he returned to Hamlet. He moved to Ehampion in 1950 and in 1960 to Grant. He entered the rest home in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Services were held at the Grant Congregational Church with Pastor David Heintzleman, officiating. "Safe in the Arms of Jesus",and "Beyond the Sunset" were sung by Katie Carlson, accompanied on the organ by Janie Colglazier, and the congregation sang, "The Old Rugged Cross." Casket Bearers were: Lloyd and Nick Smith, Carl Gorsuch, Rick Heldenbrand, Ron Kitt and Larry Konken. Bullock-Long Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements, and interment at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Hamlet, Nebraska
