Rauscher, 55, of rural Lockridge, died Tuesday, April 8, 1997, at his home southeast of Lockridge. He was born April 12, 1941, at Fairfield, the son of Rudolph H. Rauscher and Ruth E. (Hollander) Rauscher. On Oct. 29, 1961, he married Joyce A. Pohren. He attended school at Lockridge until his senior year and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1959. He worked for Rauscher Seed House at Lockridge and in bridge construction. He enlisted in the Iowa Army National Guard from 1959 to 1967, serving in the Engineering Battalion at Fairfield. He was a machinist for the Burlington Northern Railroad Shops for 34 years. He farmed southeast of Lockridge and helped his son with Rauscher Automotive. He was of the Protestant faith, was a member of Machinists union local at Burlington, and operated his father’s booth selling prints and books at Old Threshers. Survivors include: his son H.R. “Hank” of rural Lockridge; his daughter Penny H. Rauscher of West Des Moines; one grandson; and one grand-daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Paul Roy. Visitation will begin at noon on Friday, April 11, at Weir Funeral Home, Mt Pleasant, were the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday evening. The casket will remain closed. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 12, at Weir Funeral Home, Mt Pleasant, with Mr. Roger Fisher officiating. Interment will be held in Forest Home Cemetery, Mt Pleasant. Memorials have been established to the Henry County Health Center Cardiac Rehabilitation or Lockridge First Responders.
