He was a graduate of Ames High School and Iowa State College and lived in Ames for 34 years. Roy married on June 17, 1925, to Norma Haverly at Little Brown Church, Nashua. After living in Missouri, Iowa and Milwaukee, Wis., they moved to St Paul in 1942. He retired in 1965 after 30 years with USDA. He was a charter member of Soil Conservation Society of America and a member of OPEDA. Survivors include his wife, Norma, Roseville, Minn; two sons, Wallace, Fargo, ND and Philip, Roseville, Minn. A daughter Mrs Robert Espelien, Melrose, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister. [one source: Ames Tribune]
