Read More	LAYBOLT, Roy Frederick – 62, Lake Charlotte, died peacefully of terminal cancer, with his family at his bedside on August 24, 2012, in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital. Roy knew how much he was loved, and was comforted knowing his family was with him and he was not alone. Born in Middle Musquodoboit on October 2, 1949, he was a son of Frederick Walter and Marion Lois (Higgins) Laybolt, of Lake Charlotte. Roy spent most of his childhood years working on the farm of his grandparents, Roy and Ruby Higgins. He would also ride his bike to his Uncle Leslie's farm and help them bale hay. When Roy got married and had a family of his own, he would often take them to his grandparent's farm that he had loved so much. Roy loved woodworking, and to this day many of his family and friends have something that he made just for them. Roy loved to go hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed the time he spent with his father and brothers. At many family gatherings, you would hear countless stories and tall tales about one of their many hunting trips. Roy loved the times he shared with his family, and enjoyed music and dancing. As in many large families, there was laughter, tears, and fights, but most of all there was love, and the knowledge that no matter the circumstances, they were there for each other. Roy had a giving and tender heart, and would always lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. He worked at The Birches as part of the maintenance staff and soon grew very fond of the residents. He would visit them daily and often took those without family home with him. Many spent Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner with Roy's family. His soft heart made it difficult when one of the residents passed away, and so after 12 years, he left The Birches, but he never forgot the friendships he made there. Roy was uncle to many nieces and nephews, whom he loved to torment with silly nicknames. He was our son, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, husband, and friend. We will miss him, but we are at peace as we know Roy has joined his brothers, Vernon and Freddie, and together they are probably telling tales and sharing memories. Funeral service was held August 28 in Lake Charlotte United Church, Rev. Joan Griffin officiated. The Laybolt family respectfully request that donations be made to Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
