Mr. Gwinn was born in Enoree on July 16, 1913, a son f the late Ludie Preston Gwinn Sr. and Docia Pruitt Gwinn. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Roy Jerry and Linda Bates Gwinn of Simpsonville; a sister, Lillian G. Pittman of Woodruff; four grandchildren, April Humphries of Union, David and Crystal Humphries of Spartanburg; Lisa and Bart Warriner of Easley and Lance Gwinn of Simpsonville; two great-grandchildren, Lea and Loren Williams; and a son-in-law, Jimmy Humphries of Union. Mr. Gwinn was predeceased by a daughter, Sara Faye Gwinn Humphries and three brothers, Robert S. Gwinn, Leland Gwinn and L.P. Gwinn Jr. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Ralph Bowling. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Bart Warriner, Jimmy Humphries, Lance Gwinn, David Humphries, Hugh Watson Jr. and Maxie Watson. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 and will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Thursday to await the hour of service. The family is at the home, 600 N. Pinckney St. Memorials may be made to Duncan Acres United Methodist Church, 417 Rice Ave., Union, S.C. 29379. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
