Interment was in the New York cemetery. Pallbearers were Everett Dyer, Carey Dyer, Bert Hudson, Walter Teater, Elmer Reynolds and Mr. Turner. Roy Brown, son of Saul and Mary Brown, was born near the present family home in Wayne county on August 20, 1882, and at the time of his death on May 6th had reached the age of 54 years, 8 months and 16 days. He grew to manhood within sight of the present home. He lived his entire life in Wright township, Wayne county, with the exception of the past several months spent in the Oakdale hospital. The family went to Oakdale the Friday before his death in response to a message stating that he could live but a short time. Mrs. Brown remained with him during his last earthly hours. He was united in marriage to Miss Effie Cox, of Corydon, on April 10, 1910. Two children were born to this union, Audrey and William, both of whom remain at home with their mother. He was converted when a young man and united with the Church of Christ at Bethlehem, later uniting with the church in his neighborhood. He knew the word of God and counseled and comforted his loved ones therewith. He requested them in his own words to "meet me around the table of the Lord where we will no longer feed upon the husks of this world." The influence of a life, like the soul and spirit of man, is not buried with the body, so Roy Brown will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him, a light to lighten all who knew him to that better world. He was a devoted companion, a loving father, and a friend to all with whom he came in contact. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife and children, Audrey and William, and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Rouse, of Missouri, and Mrs. Minnie Dyer of Chariton, and a host of other relatives and friends. His parents and one sister, Mrs. Daisy Robinson, preceded him in death.
