Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua with Pastor Karl Schiltz and Pastor Richard Fredine officiating. Eulogist for the service will be Don Gillquist. Nelda Shepard will be the organist accompanying Janice Edson as vocalist. Burial with military honors will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua. Online condolences for Roy may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com Roy was born on Feb. 8, 1926, in Quincy, Ill., the son of C. Lee and Dorothy M. (Crooks) Stansbery. He attended country school in Adams County, Ill. and later in Chickasaw County. He graduated from Nashua High School in 1944. Roy served four years in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He was baptized and was a member of the former Nashua Bible Church. On June 13, 1953, he was united in marriage to June Maxine Schwartz at the First Baptist Church in Mason City. To this union three children were born. Roy was employed for 26 years at Salsbury Labs in Charles City, three years at the John Deere Implement in Charles City, and 16 years with the U.S. Post Office in Ionia. He retired as postmaster. Roy always enjoyed being in the country. He loved farming and the farm he lived on from 1960-2007. Roy had a great appreciation for rare coins, antique pocket watches and tractors. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and attending auctions throughout the mid-west. His longtime goal of traveling to and seeing Alaska was accomplished in July 2005, with family and friends. If so desired, the family requests memorials to either the American Cancer Society, Research Division or the Crooks Family Scholarship Fund. Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Lois S. Bresaw of Silverdale, Wash.; Kay (Gerry) Howard, of Olathe, Kan; one son, Wayne (Deanne) Stansbery of Zearing; five grandchildren, Joshua A. (Andrea) Lubkeman, Nathan S. (Emily) Lubkeman, Andrew T. Howard, Wyatt L. Stansbery and Olivia R. Stansbery, and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby (Albert) Schluter, of Cresco, and one brother, A. Ray (Shirley) Stansbery, of Mesa, Ariz.
