Description	:	Roy Richard Hall was born to David Leonard Hall and Ethel Vanhooser Hall on January 13, 1923, at Waco. He passed away August 11, 2003, at his home in Exeter, at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 28 days. Roy attended elementary school at both Waco and Exeter and then graduated from Exeter High School with the Class of 1941. He then entered the Army on February 4, 1943, with basic training being held at Camp McCain, Miss. and Fort Ord, California. He served in the Pacific Theater of Operations in the Military Police.... He passed away August 11, 2003, at his home in Exeter, at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 28 days. Roy attended elementary school at both Waco and Exeter and then graduated from Exeter High School with the Class of 1941. He then entered the Army on February 4, 1943, with basic training being held at Camp McCain, Miss. and Fort Ord, California. He served in the Pacific Theater of Operations in the Military Police. While serving his country, he was awarded the Distinguished Unit Citation Award, American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and a World War II Victory Ribbon. Throughout his life, Roy always enjoyed playing baseball. He pitched in many surrounding towns including Waco, McCool Junction, Exeter and Crete. In 1949, he entered Railroad School and became a Station Agent for the Rock Island Railroad for three years. He later went into farming. Roy was married to Louise E. Buzek of Exeter on May 12, 1948, and to them four children were born. Roy was a member of the Exeter United Methodist church and Exeter American Legion Post No. 218. His life revolved around the farm, family and time spent in attending numerous sporting events, especially baseball. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, who loved his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Evan Hall, Lloyd Hall, Howard Hall and twin brother, Ray T. Hall; sisters, Velma Bennett and Mabel Byrumn. He is survived by his wife Louise; sons, Mike and wife Susan Hall, Rick and wife, Debbie Hall, Doug Hall and friend Pam Shively, daughter, Carol Bettger and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Nicki and husband, Dean Acheson, Dawn and husband, Micael David, Scott Bettger, Christina and Zac Hartmann, Sheena and Justina Hall, and Jessie Hall; great-grandchildren include Taylor and Ashlyn Acheson, Cayden Hartmann, and Jett David; brother, Dale and wife Ann Hall. Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist Church in Exeter on Thursday, August 14, 2003, with Tessa Louch officiating. Angie Murphy provided prelude and postlude music. Karl Brinkman accompanied himself and sang "Wind Beneath My Wings," "The Dance," and "The Lord's Prayer.: Casket bearers were Roger Hall Randy Hall, Dennis Hall, Kent Hall, Lenny Hall, David Hall, Terry Briley and Pat Hassler. Interment with military honors provided by the William Sullivan Exeter American Legion Post No. 218 were held at the Exeter Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal August 20th, 2003 page 10.
