Description	:	From Obituary - "Mr. Roy Ricks Andrews, 88, died on Thursday, November 2, 2017 in Hampton, Virginia. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery. Mr. Andrews was born on April 21, 1929 in Greenville, NC and was the son of the late Samuel Aldridge Andrews and the late Willie Ida Andrews. Read More	From Obituary - "Mr. Roy Ricks Andrews, 88, died on Thursday, November 2, 2017 in Hampton, Virginia. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery. Mr. Andrews was born on April 21, 1929 in Greenville, NC and was the son of the late Samuel Aldridge Andrews and the late Willie Ida Andrews. He grew up in Pitt County where he lived until he joined the military. Roy was a veteran of the Korean War, serving 8 years in the United States Navy aboard heavy cruisers including the USS Helena and USS Rochester. After serving in the Navy, Roy returned to Bethel, NC where he was a farmer for many years. Roy maintained lifelong interests in history, classical music, and small-scale woodworking. Mr. Andrews was predeceased by his wife and mother of his children, Hisako Komori Andrews and wife, Eula Davenport Scott Andrews and son, Sammy Andrews. He is survived by his: sons, Dean Andrews and wife Kristal of Washington, NC and Timmy Andrews and wife Renaye of Raeford, NC, and Glen Andrews and wife Lynn of Sierra Vista, AZ; daughters, Margie A. Daw of Manns Harbor, NC and Vickie A. Wiggins and husband Tommy of Hampton, VA; and 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members. Visitation will be Saturday, 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request that a contribution be made to the Hospice organization of your choice.
